CODE OF PROFESSIONAL ETHICS AND CONDUCT
Govt. Postgraduate College, Guna (M.P.) strives to inculcate among their students and staff the importance of teamwork through mutual trust and understanding along with respecting their individuality. The college encourages the students and the staff to work together towards the vision and mission of the college. The students are expected to follow professional ethics and the code of conduct laid down by the college for their holistic growth. The teaching, non-teaching staff and the students make a college therefore it is crucial that they work together harmoniously keeping in mind their responsibilities towards the institution and their conduct within the campus.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS
- Disciplinary action will be taken against students for:
2. maligning the reputation of the college
3. threatening any other student or staff
4. damaging the college property or using it for personal use
5. conducting their own student elections
6. committing forgery and misguiding the college by providing wrong information
7. violation of orders or summons given by the college authorities
8. sexual misconduct, assault, gambling
- Students are expected to follow the timetable for attending classes (theory/practical/ tutorials) and other college activities.
- Transfer Certificate will be given to the students once they obtain clearance from all the concerned departments.
- Each student must have an identity card provided by the college.
- Students are expected to visit the college website regularly, read the main notice board and their departmental notice board for regular updates of the college activities.
- Students must pledge to keep the campus clean and take part in the initiatives towards having a green campus.
- Smoking, use of drugs, drinking, chewing of tobacco, and spitting are strictly prohibited in and around the campus.
- Indulging in ragging of any form will lead to strict disciplinary action against the student. An anti-ragging committee has been set for the same.
- Use of mobile phones for texting, chatting, or attending calls is strictly prohibited in the classrooms during the lectures and other classroom activities.
- Inappropriate behaviour in the classroom, for instance, threatening the fellow classmates or the professors, disrupting class activities purposely, use of inappropriate language and tone and offending others, leaving and entering the class frequently or coming late for the classes would lead to strict disciplinary action.
- A student must be true to their academic endeavours. Plagiarism and cheating in examinations are highly intolerable. Plagiarism also includes copying of assignments/projects from other students or from the internet without proper citations and credits.
- The institution forbids discrimination on the basis of gender, caste, class, race/colour, religion, or disability. Any student who faces the above, can file a complaint to the concerned committee.
- The college reserves the right to use the academic information of the students wherever required.
- Students are not allowed to form any clubs, groups or associations or organise events without taking permission of the college authorities. College campus cannot be used for any postures, pamphlets, speeches until they have a written permission from the authorities.
- The college is not responsible for the personal belongings in case of any loss. The students must take care of their books, bags, mobiles, laptops, money, jewellery, and other valuable items.
- Students seeking personal benefits from the teaching or non-teaching staff through their personal relations will not be entertained.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR TEACHING STAFF
- Each faculty member must work towards the vision and mission of the college keeping in mind the institutional policies and practices.
- Each faculty member should respect the right and dignity of the student and their opinions.
- A lesson plan must be prepared before taking the classes.
- Engaging in any political activity within the college campus is not acceptable.
- The staff must work efficiently and with complete honesty under the headship of the Principal.
- All the staff members are expected to be punctual for their classes and adherence to the academic timetable is expected from them.
- All the members (teaching and non-teaching) are supposed to sign regularly in the attendance register which is maintained by the Head of the Institution.
- Apart from taking the classes (theory and practical), faculty members are supposed to undertake invigilation duties, evaluation, extra-curricular activities, mentoring students, and other administrative duties assigned to them.
- The faculty members must consider all the students as equal without discriminating on the basis of gender, religion, caste, class, colour/race, disabilities etc.
- Decorum and morality must be maintained within the campus.
- Private tuitions/coaching classes and other forms of employment (both online and offline) must not be taken by the faculty members of the college.
- Continuous research and study must be done by the faculty for their professional growth and the growth of the institution.
- Leaves can be taken after informing the Head of the Institution keeping in the mind their responsibility towards the institution.
- Avoid inciting students against other students, colleagues, or administration.
- Avoid verbal, non-verbal, and physical misconduct of sexual nature while interacting with students, colleagues, and visitors at the college.
- Students should be encouraged towards developing their personalities and for community welfare.
- Inculcate among students a scientific outlook, respect for physical labour, and ideals of democracy, peace, and patriotism.
- Colleagues and non-teaching staff should be treated with respect and assistance must be provided for professional betterment.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR NON-TEACHING/ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF
- Code of Conduct for non-teaching staff is mainly governed by the Acts, Statutes, Ordinances, and Service Rules of The Higher Education Department of Madhya Pradesh.
- The working hours for the non-teaching staff is from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with half an hour of break on all working days. The second and third Saturdays of every month is an off for them.
- All staff members must show the highest possible standards of professional behaviour. They are expected to be punctual and disciplined towards their work.
- Confidentiality must be maintained of the records of students and faculty members and in other sensitive matters.
- All the staff members must avoid any discrimination on the basis of gender/sexuality/age/marital status/caste/colour etc. in their behaviour towards their colleagues, teaching staff, and students.
- Avoid verbal, non-verbal, and physical misconduct of sexual nature while interacting with students, colleagues, faculty members, and visitors at the college.
